I just received my new Temken spindle bearings/cups for the Atlas 618 I have been restoring, and realized I forgot to find and order new bushings that are really worn and with tons of slop. The ones I am referring to are the M6-258 bushings. I cannot seem to find any source for them. I did some searching and I cannot find any sources via posts on the forum, though I may have just not found it yet.

For those that have replace theirs, where did you get your new bushings from?

Thanks!

Can you measure the original seat length & Diameter and shaft diameter to get the sizes and look for non-specific-to-Atlas replacements?

Just a thought as I have had success doing that in the past where a direct replacement for a specific machine was not available / easy to find even from the OEM / OEM Parts supply network.

I will have to do that if I cannot find something soon. Which it looks like I am going to have to do.

You might try contacting Kara Boyce at the Clausing Service Center. Phone is 800-323-0972. Email is info@clausingsc.com. If they have the part in stock you can get a quote, and if not they usually can provide you with a digital copy of the part drawing.

I communicated with her back in June via email, asking if they had any instructions and part lists for the M6-325 steady rest and M6-395 follower rest. She responded the same day. They didn't have any instructions but she forwarded digital images of the assembly drawings for each, which have a bill of materials with the part numbers for each item in the assembly.

Clausing service is outstanding. They are friendly and helpful, even when helping someone with a machine they stopped making 50 years ago.

Kara also forwarded the email for Technical Service, suggesting that it may be a place for getting things like instructions or drawings of parts no longer stocked. Their email is techservice@clausingsc.com.

I would contact Kara first and ask for a quote on the part and then go from there. Let us know how it turns out. Good luck!

You might find they are a standard size; try Bunting Bearings for example
