I have a traditional Kennedy tool chest, pre WWII. Looking to find a suitable drawer divider tray that fits for keeping cutting tools, taps/dies, reamers, etc separated. I do know that Kennedy makes the perfect dividers, but the project isn't worth that kind of money to me. I will measure L/W/H and see what I can find online, but thought I'd see if anyone here has gone down the same route with success first.

Thanks!

+1 for the red Schaller bins. They're very inexpensive but they use UPS so shipping costs may not be worth it unless you purchase quite a few. What I do is is estimate what I need, then order extras cause I always end up wanting more.

Looks like a solution! Is their 1" height a true 1"? I'm hoping not, since I have around .75" . I can always sand them down a bit though.

Many thanks!

I just take a scrap piece of aluminum sheet, shear to dimensions needed, corner notch to get the right depth and fold up with the box brake. Quick, fun, perfectly sized to suit.

For example, a very shallow tray just to hold loose parts close by while in process:

clever...wish I had a box brake!. And yes, the Schaller UPS cost was a bit off-putting, plus an inch high is a quarter-inch too high for me. I think I'll make a frame from modeling wood, at least until I find something that will work without expensive shipping.
thanks!

Brilliant...my wife has one at work...I'll do some hunting for a file that can be adapted to 7.125" x 2.000" x .700" with a solid bottom. That should have occurred to me! Update: she showed me the rudiments of tinkercad, so I designed an open box. Haven't figured out how to get the wall thickness correct yet, but she'll run it tonight. Such an easy solution!
Thanks!
Tim
