[Since with the Search Issues" there appears to be a gap between early July and this past Sunday, I'm starting a new thread]

Forget About The Special, Look At The New Products:

Also, someone on one of the Forums was recently looking for "Flexible Metal Conduit" for running scale wiring; LMS has 8mm & 13mm along with end fittings available in their Outlet Store:

^ years ago I tried to machine one out of a block of Aluminum, it didn't workout too well, the height ended up being too short but it was entirely my fault.

That's ingenious! I wonder where they got the idea...

Nowhere near original, but haven't seen any other reseller offer one for those who only have a 7x lathe (but I'm sure eBay will be flooded shortly). You could make one using a 4-Jaw in the lathe, but it would be a struggle on a 7x.

The plinth block is not a bad idea, cheaper than to buy than make.
Exactly; even though it is relying on the Compound "disk" for mounting, I think there is enough meat to add a couple of extra mounting holes to bolt directly to the Cross Slide.

Very true. :encourage:

Still going to make my own from cast iron. It's a nice little project that shouldn't be too far out of the envelope of my limited competence. ;)
Yes, it's been on my list (I've had a couple of roughed-out 12L14 blocks waiting for 2 years, but with my "Shoulder List" I was happy to find something I could bolt on.

I received my Plinth – will document (probably a video) the fitting of it later [yeah, we know "after my shoulder heals; trust me I'm more tired of this than you are!](along with a handful of miscellaneous clearance items) and a sale flyer was included (PDF attached):

I do understand why lack of rigidity drives mini lathe owners to go the plinth route ,but I just don't see myself leaving it on the lathe too long, in other words I can't see myself without compound slide on my lathe, if or when rigidity gets in the way I always find a way around it (although it won't be as rigid as I'd like),.having said all of that I still would consider buying that plinth ,I'd rather having it available just in case.

As I noted I have had the rough cut stock for this for a couple of years, just hasn’t been high on the list; since my list has expanded exponentially after my shoulder injury I decided to take advantage of this opportunity (I’m guessing that LMS will have these at Cabin Fever later this week).

I think the reason I didn’t do anything before is that I added cross slide & compound gib locks long ago and use them religiously. It will be interesting to see if there’s a significant improvement with the plinth.

[I was getting ready to make a video of swapping the standard compound with one with T-Slots when I had my accident: this will now include adding the plinth and a vertical slide]
