I've searched here for a couple of ways of describing this and the only reference to this eBay seller I find is for some lathe speed charts they print.

I'm thinking of doing their flame licker engine for my next project. The call it "Mr. McGuckin’s Mysterious Flame Licker Engine". The listing says it was an article in Popular Science Magazine in February 1950, and kits were sold by various places (including Mr. McGuckin) off and on until recently.

The listing is here, if it's helpful.

I've been looking for a casting kit for a flame eater/flame licker and this is the only one I've found. PM Research makes a prettier engine, but it's only available assembled, and there's a ton of assembled ones from China.com around, but where's the fun in that?

I'd appreciate any feedback anybody has.

The shop wisdom of Phillip Duclos has a flame licker engine made from bar stock. It is attractive.
Book can be found used or new from Village Press

Thanks. I was able to find one doing an image search and found a YouTube video along with several photos. That really is a nicer looking engine. My thought about going with the castings is that I could possibly rebuild it with a brass cylinder from a bar.

I need to think about this some.
