For one buck I got a perfect (barely yellowed) book, NEW ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MACINE SHOP PRACTICE, George W. Barnwell, 1941, with a great section on "The Lathe." It has helped me relate to the great, old, belt driven machines I see on CL and ebay.
I've also found some good machinist books at library and yard sales. Best part is, they are usually dirt cheap. Can you check to see if there is any information on a Van Norman #2 Duplex Mill?
herbet, Sorry, Looked thru the book. Most pics are Brown and Sharpe. Nothing in the index.
