Hello, new here, not sure if this is the correct area to post...

Picked up an old kwikway model F boring bar about a year ago. From what I have gathered the model F was made in the 30s to 40s. Also there is an early and late model.

I think this is the early model. The depth of cut is set into the toolholder on an off the tool micrometer. The late one has a tool that sets the cutting depth without removing the cutter from the bar.

Anyone here have experience with this sorta machine?

The tool kit it came with has a lapping wheel and a few fixtures to dress up thr carbide tipped tooling.

Some of the later models have a different size toolholder. Aftermarket companies sell toolholders that take indexable inserts.

Also need to figure out a good way to get the bar concentric over the cylender to be bored oversize. Modern boring bars have 3 paws that extend out of the bar radially.

I believe this had cones that would slip over the bar. The cone would then be pushed into the cylinder with the bar loose and it would center it. I could make cones or a donut with the id of the bar and the od of the starting bore size.

First project is my 4.0 jeep engine followed by the wife's 2.0 TDI

Any help is appreciated!
Attached are a few pics of it.

Hi, Welcome to HM.
You have posted in a correct forum.
Sorry, I don't have any actual experience with this machine but it looks like a nice score!
