That's lamp hardware , nominal .377" threaded 27 TPI
Threaded M10 x 1.5
Then I hit a snag.

3/8" x 16 tpi
Just for amusement , 1.5 mm thread is 16.9 TPI ...
So all I had was the too long 3/8" x 16 TPI that started this mess.
One end is now 3/8" x 16 TPI the other was single pointed M10 x 1.5 .
I'll get some more tube from the local hardware store for some limited diameter through chuck capability.
It will get the 3/8" - 16 on one end and M10 x 1.5 on the other.
I suppose another hand wheel is in order so I don't have to keep switching...
