Just need a sanity check here.

I ordered some lathe oil from Grizzly (turns out to be Southbend brand) and it is a dark shade of green. Now I've had oil turn that color for the wrong reason, so I just want to make sure that the color is deliberate. Anyone know?

You've chosen an odd place for a sanity check, you know? Just kidding. I don't know about green oil from Grizzly or SB, but I'm sure someone will be able to confirm your suspicion, or ease your worry about it. Since they seem to be good on CS, why not give them a call just to see how they handle the call. Might be revealing, and if there is a problem with what they are shipping out, they ought to be made aware of it.

I would say that I would not worry about it. Its a case of who Grizzly buys from. My father sold Atlantic
since 1935 and they too had colors. Dying fuels and lubes have become common. Red blue green
black brown grease. When I was a kid, Atlantic Hi Arc gas was purple anybody remember that. How
about Atlantic (Arco) graffite black oil. It really did increase oil pressure. Same thing as No 1 diesel
green - off road red.

Maybe it is GRIZZLY GREEN to match the machines.
That had occurred to me, but it's Southbend branded :) I checked with Grizzly and all is good. If it was any other color than green, I wouldn't care, but it's the same darn color of rotted fuel/oil mixes, and I just couldn't ignore it. LOL

does oil go "bad" ?
seems like diesel lasts forever. I know grease gets kinda hard and crusty but that's when the oil has dried out.
