Anyone have any experience with removing this reversing gear mechanism? I removed the 19mm nut and washer but it doesn’t seem to want to budge with my gentle attempts thus far.
Finally persuaded it off. There was a serious burr on the key and outside gear keyway. Not sure what would have caused this in its previous life. Made quick work of it with a jewlers file prior to removing the second gear.
My Grizzly G4003G came from the factory with all the change gears fitted so tight I needed a gear puller for every one of them. . I just need to change them when doing metric or 27 TPI so I don't do it often but when I do I don't want to spend a half hour. Five years ago I bored out all the gears by .002" so they just slip on and off by hand. Much more better!
