So, as I said in my update to my post last night, I did get a J-Head for my round ram Bridgeport machine. Now comes the last leg of this journey to having a working mill… WIRING! I have a home made phase converter (a pony-motor started 3 phase motor that feeds my 3 ph. panel box) now I’m trying to figure out what I need to do to protect my mill motor. The motor lists the amps at 220v. as 4.4A. my plan was to put a simple triple fused shutoff box fed from a 15 A. Breaker. But my local electric supply store cautioned that I really needed a motor starter with a heater to feed my reversing drum switch on the mill. Does anyone have a similar situation that could advise. The converter puts out 2-120v. legs, and a hot 190 v. leg.
