Is this Camlock Stud too long or too short?

I just put on this new D1-6 camlock adapter + chuck (both TMX).

One of the six camlock studs cannot be turned past 3 o’clock.

Do I need to have this one camlock stud sticking out more or less?

The other 5 camlock studs rotate just past 3 o’clock.

Here is one of the ones that is fine:

Try unscrewing it one turn.
…and thus increasing the stickout of the stud.

Thanks for your response! I would have only had a 50-50 chance of getting it right.

I was very conscientious about measuring it against chucks that I have that mount and dismount nicely.

I will post the results here tomorrow (I have to go to work now) of unscrewing the stud one turn.

It will be interesting to see how far along one turn outward moves the hash mark (see photos) from 3 to 6 o’clock.

I have had to turn a stud out several times on my D1-3 chucks for the 10EE. IIRC, once i had to go two turns on one stud. This has been for chucks bought from Shars. All the original equipment Monarch chucks were spot on. But have not got one of these in over 20 years.

I adjusted the length of ALL 6 of the studs by one turn. The one that had been just before 3 o’clock ended up just a hair before 6 o’clock. All the rest are well between 3 and 6 o’clock.

Here is the one that is just a hair before 6 o’clock:

Do the camlocks secure the chuck to the spindle with minimal runout at high speed? If so ,don't worry about were the marks are, they are for reference only and are not to be considered absolute.

I was able to zero the chuck to less than .0005” (i.e. .001” TIR).

So far, I have only run this chuck up to 620 RPM.

.0005 is pretty well perfect for hobbyist, Hopefully the chuck will maintain that over time
