Is there a MT3 Tailstock option for PM-1022V/PM-1030V?

I am wondering if there is an MT3 replacement for my original MT2 Tailstock on my PM-1022V

No. There are adapters, but the tailstock MT is sized to the machine size. I will use a tanged MT3 to MT2 for smaller tanged drills. The reverse adapter would stick out to far.

Thank you, @mksj. Do you happen to know if there is an ER40 collet holder for MT2 other than the cheap $25 one on Amazon, which I don't trust?

@cneuor Have on look on the flea (ebay). Last I looked, RDG Tools (<<< LINK) offered ER40 MT2 collet holders.
I have made a couple of purchases from RDG: quality tooling that I haven’t found elsewhere, reasonable shipping and they were quick to help when the Postal Service (UK or USPS, don’t know) damaged a package and an arbor slipped out.

thank you @GrifterGuru, @ChazzC, for your recommendation. I looked at the only MT2 ER40 that they offer, and it is the same cheap as the one on Amazon; neither of them indicates the TIR value, and I am not sure whether I should even bother. What do you think? Alternatively, I can buy another set of collets in size ER32 and get the Accusize MT2 ER32 collet holder. This way, I’ll have ER40 for holding the material and ER32 for holding tools, but that option will cost significantly more.

The only high-end ER40 Mt collet chucks I could find are MT3 or MT4; here’s another seller of your “cheap” one ($23.25) from CTC, with TIR noted:

Did find this one on eBay with 0.0004” TIR:

You can always get the one from Amazon and do a free return if not satisfactory. If your tail stock is MT2 is your spindle MT3? If so, and you have an MT3 to MT2 sleeve it’s easy enough to check TIR of the spindle, then TIR of the ID of the sleeve TIR of the collet chuck mating ID then finally TIR of a known rod held in a collet. You will need to account for the stated TIR of your collet, unless you have already measured it.

@ChazzC thank you so much! Somehow it seems to me that it is the same as the others that don't indicate their TIR, but at double the price :)

I wonder why the one on Amazon for $27 is rated 3.6 stars with 5 ratings but no comment. Maybe I should give it a try and see it for myself...

The CTC, similarly priced as the Amazon is 0.0006” vs. 0.0004” for the one on eBay (I doubt you’ll notice the difference).

I tend to ignore Amazon ratings without comments, just as I don’t pay much attention to ratings of 1 or 2 (most of these are are complaints about delivery, the color being different or from someone who didn’t read the description).

I've been keeping a lookout for an ER40 MT2 holder as well. The offerings are pretty slim, as you've discovered. The MTA2 is even harder to find than the MTB2 version. Couple out there, but suspect quality. Biding my time, in hopes of a better offering coming available. Not sure TIR is really that critical, as the holder will be fixed in a tailstock or QCTP/MT2 holder.
