Is Hydraulic Oil Different from Circulating Oil?

I have pictures below of what I want to buy.

I want to buy 1 gallon containers. I would really like to avoid buying a 5 gallon pail.

I found 1 gallon Mobil DTE ISO 32, but it is hydraulic oil. I probably want to buy something that actually says circulating oil on the label.

I looked online, but I cannot find the 1 gallon black plastic container in the picture above.

if anybody can post a link to that product, I would really appreciate it.

This is for the headstock on a new PM-1660TL.

I found a lot of this online. However, it does not say circulating oil.

Why are you trying to avoid a 5 gal pail, that 16" must take a lot of oil, right?

Vactra #2 is ISO 68 is SAE 20wt

DTE light is ISO 32 or about SAE 10 wt

DTE heavy medium is ISO 68

Hydraulic oil is circulating by definition, that's what it does.

Here's the specs.

Any oil that meets the spec should be fine for our application. Brand recommendations are just that, recommendations, I'm using the VP Racing tractor oil from Tractor Supply for everything on my lathe. But, I didn't buy it new on terms either....

IMHO, as long as you don't use something that will eat any brass (modern spec oil) you're better off buying something less expensive and changing it often. There was a thread on here I think where someone who worked for an oil company explained that suppliers often purchase from each other as it's cheaper then making every spec themselves.

of course JMHO....

The machine requires 2 gallons. The main reason I don’t want to have 3 gallons laying around is due to an acute lack of storage space. Also, I am broke.

This is one candidate here. I would buy 2 gallons and not require any storage space for 3 spare gallons:

And here is the candidate that would strain my finances as well as my storage space:

You can use either the named Mobil series (DTE Light) or the numbered series (DTE 24), all that really matters is the viscosity. In this application they have the same performance and are considered equivalent. There has been extensive discussions on this, they are very slight differences that are inconsequential for this type of use. Neither of these oils have any effect on yellow metals, only some oils like differential automotive type that have extreme pressure additives, and these require much higher heat to activate. Any ISO 32 circulating or hydraulic oil will work fine, most important factor is that you change the oil on some regularity (like once a year).

This is what I use in my headstock for my ERL-1340 lathe which is made by the same company as yours.

Thanks! I got two of these for $77.86 delivered:
