What are some of the off the wall, one time use improve tools you have made?
I had to lift a protable building off of a trailer, so I rigged up some "ginn poles". A 1 and 7/8 trailer ball fit nicley into some 2 and 3/8 pipe I had, so I mounted one on each side of my pickups bed. I beefed the whole thing up with some 1/2 steel washers I made. A 1/2" link chain held them to my headach rack and a 1 and a 1/2 ton chain fall winch provided the lifting. Although I built this for a one time use, I find myself "poling up the pickup" to move anything to big for the dolly around the yard.pickup 001.jpg
The bed is full of junk because we were moving into a new house, hints the reason for moving the storage building.

I'd sure hate for that headache rack to give up!

Its .250" 4" square tubing welded to two pieces of .250"x4"x4" angle iorn bed rail runners that are bolted down the entire length of the bed with 3/8 bolts and .250"by 3" diameter flat washers. I will rip the bed off long before the headach rack gives out. I also have run winch trucks before and know the limits of the truck, and stay well within a safe range of weight. If i have somthing really heavy to move, I call a friend who has a tractor with a bucket, who lives a few miles down the road.

Wow, and i thought i was the only one who did that. For years my work truck had a set up like that, with 8 foot long poles. I could easily lift 1000 pound loads into my truck with it. Then the safety people got to me, now we do it the safe way by getting 6 people to try and wrestle loads into the truck. Remember not to let anyone get under the load.
