With the help of Art, AKA kylisdad, Ive been working on sharping my bits. Worked on some Alum today and got my finish nice and smooth. I really want to say thanks to Art and everyone for your input to my mistakes and keeping me on the straight and narrow.

Bernie It sure is. Art told me with a sharp bit I can cut anything as long as the angles are right ect. Im going to work with some more steel next week and see what the bit will do. Its hard with out change gears to to but Ray is advising me on some lathes Im finding in my area so if I see the right one, Ill jump on it and bring a bigger one home.

Looks good Vince. It's good to see you have your tool set short too

As we talked about before, spend money on a "real" (as in bigger ) lathe

The challenge comes later when you regrind. Can you get it the same two or more times. Practice, practice, practice. Have fun Vince.

Keep a diamond hone file in your toolbox and give it a few swipes before it gets dull and you will never regrind a bit again unless you need a different profile or contour. Lookin good on the Alli. Gotta love how sweet it cuts and how nicely it finishes too.

Bernie, its a little atlas 6 inch that Im growing out of fast. But for 50 bucks its great to learn on.

Bob, after talking with Art about some things I remembered that I picked up a stone at an auction years back where their was a lathe. So I ground it on the wheel and Ive been using the stone also. A few other people have told me this and Ill try to get a dimond on one day.

Jeff, Im finding some equipment round here. Im bouncing what I find off Ray. Next week the saw mill is comig over to cut my boards and make the shop bigger. Now Im faced with another magor desion, Volvo called me last night to come drive for them. So i dont know if i should stay turning wrenches or climb back in a truck. Working for another rental company would give me acass to a Lull to move the larger lathe into my new shop. Cant really get the roll back I sometimes drive to it now. And I think my neighbors 38hp bota will drag one down to the shop if its on a skid.

Not quite true Bob. What happens if it chips? It does happen.
