Just acquired this dirt cheap., been sitting in a barn for two years but looks to be in good condition. No gearbox or top cover though.20220625_154744.jpg

If the bed is about 54" LOA and it was originally sold by Atlas, given that there is no QCGB and there are a bunch of loose change gears, it is an Atlas 3983. Or if sold by Sears, it is a 101.27590. The model number and serial number should be on a tag on the right end of the bed.

I missed that someone had stupidly replaced the two spindle-bearing oil cups with grease fittings. I say that not because grease would be totally unsuitable for the spindle bearings but because there is no way that the grease could get to where it needs to be in order to properly lubricate the bearings. You will need to pressure flush both bearings with kerosene. Then reinstall the oil cups and run several fillings of SAE 10 through the bearings. Then install the felts and fill the cups with SAE 20 ND. And hope for the best. Or if the drive belt needs changing, pull the spindle and clean out the dried grease and reinstall the oil cups and felts.
