I'm a tool junky admittedly. Who here isn't....
Yesterday I went to the house of a retiring tool and die maker who invited me to check out some things he was selling. He had a lot of nice stuff, and his prices were so fair that I had a hard time saying no to most of it, so I came out of there quite a bit lighter in the wallet with 4 boxes of tools and material, one of which he gave to me for free with about 30 lbs of misc tool steel.
Here is one piece in particular that I wanted to show you guys. I just think it's a fine tool, and was honored that he would even consider selling it. The fellow made it himself about 30 years ago, and I plan to put it to good use.
It's a tapping fixture for small tapping jobs. Simple, yet complex in the thought that he clearly put into it. It came with 5 holders for 3 different tap shank sizes. The set screws that hold the taps line up with the flats on the taps, so no spinning, and the holder shanks have flats milled on them where the set screw holds the holders to the handle shaft for a no spin/booger free shank. And he built in a nice storage feature for the holders.
The handle itself is removable for use without the fixture as an extended tap handle.
I'm sure there are lots of fixtures out there like this one, but I was just honored that he sold it to me, and even more excited that this will be something that I will enjoy and use a lot!
There will be more things I will add to this thread.
How about you guys show off some of the cool stuff you have procured over the years here as well?!
