At my local independent (not a chain) tool store, they had a set of what was labeled "over-under". I opened the wood lid and there was a tray of reamers! Basically it has a range of sizes from 3/16" to 1/2", by 1/16" increments. But instead of spot-on sizes, it had +.001" and -.001" of the sizes. For example, there was no .250" reamer, but there was a .249" and a .251". They were in kind of skungey shape, but seemed OK and they cleaned up nicely. I couldn't say no at $40!! :beguiled:
My question is, what are they good for? I could see using the "over" reamer to make a nice slip-fit or something, but what would the "under" ones be used for?
Thank you,
...Doug in Arizona

The under ones are great for tight dowel pin holes, or anything else that needs a press fit.

Hey Doug,

That sounds like a really good score! Congrats.

....and by the way, I somehow find your avatar super creepy! :cower:

I still have to find one for myself.......hhhmmmmmm......
