I ordered o-lite, received albronze . What’s it good for?

Other than hammering the numbskull that made this mistake with it. what is this stuff used for.

All I got so far is corrosion resistance and I’m just making low speed bushings.

At least he didn’t order the original 2 6’ pieces he originally quoted for when I only wanted of two 6”.

I guess I should be happy we averted that $1100 misadventure.

It's good for bushings. It'd probably work fine in your low speed application, unless there's more to it than that.

"954 bronze contains a minimum of 10% aluminum for strength and weldability. It is also known as aluminum bronze. It's widely used for bearings, bushings, valve bodies, and worm gears."

I don’t know about all of the uses for it, but I used aluminum bronze for blade guides for the accessory contour arms on a Roll-In bandsaw. They last quite a bit longer than those made of bearing bronze.

I’ve also seen it used in valves and bushings but usually in conjunction with hardened shafts or hardened sleeves. It holds up well against abrasion; however, it can be a little abrasive or wearing on non-hardened parts.

It definitely should not be used with soft shafting, I used to work at an industrial plant where they used quite a lot of it, both for bushings, overlays, packing glands, all sorts of wear surfaces, always running against something hard, a lot of the time, hard chrome, it will indeed wear out soft steel.

I believe that you have zinc-chromate coated 8.8 metric fasteners pictured

Some people have no sense of humor

You must hate done an image search since otherwise you wouldn’t have known they were metric (the inch grade 8 zinc-chromate fasteners look the same; it was just easier to grab this image).

Actually, I zoomed in on the headstamp of one of the bolts.
I can tell by eye the difference between metric and imperial threads, your presumption is incorrect.
I have a great sense of humor, when something is actually funny.
