I currently have a j-head Bridgeport with x-y digital readout, x-powerfeed and an air powered knee. of course three phase power that I run off a rotary converter and that would go with the two machines. Its got a old 6“ swivel vice a new phase 3 5”? swivel vice, an 8” rotary table with the tail stock and a pretty decent assortment of older r-8 collets, and a holder mounted on the machine. .
It’s not used for much other than un-necessary tinkering & I may have found it a new home.
I also have a 13” Sheldon tool room lathe that’s in really nice shape with the same problems. it also is not needed. It has a old and new three jaw and a four jaw and some tail stock chucks, a real aloris and a dozen or more tool holders plus the old lantern stuff and some extras things and a taper attachment.
I do have a 12” Craftsman with all the options that’s a bunch slower to operate but it’s in a small shop building with all my other stuff I like to play with so the craftsman is going to be a “keeper”.
The question is: what are they worth ? I have an interested party and mentioned $3500 for the mill and $3000 for the lathe. But I want to be assured that we are both getting a respectable deal.
for a mill replacement would the horror freight one for about $1500 be a fairly decent machine. there is soooo much information on mills on the web that it boggles ones mind. .

What think thee ? ? ? thanks for reading.

I believe the price is fair for both machines. If you were closer Id consider the lathe. It ultimatly boiles down to the customer regarding the price as fair. I always leave a little "negotiating room" when I sell stuff. I cant tell you anything on the mill, never owned one. Hope this helps.
