Hello all! Longtime lurker, finally registered and first post!

I finally picked up a used 4x6 bandsaw off craigslist for my son (and TBH myself as well) to start cutting and welding with. It's a Central Machinery "green" model which I already have ideas on modifications for the bandsaw but first have to tweak it for to get it cutting straight (I can see the blade is slightly off the top pulley already).

After a putting together a proper stand, I'm hoping to put together a hydraulic downfeed as it's 2nd mod and wondered if anybody had a BOM I could go off of?

TIA and it's been super helpful reading on here over the past few months!

Welcome....

Hi zz welcome! I have seen many different designs for hydraulic downfeeds ranging from modified screen-door closers to more elaborate systems- it kind of depends on your budget and if you have any parts already on hand- this is my version: (sorry no BOM) any questions ask away

Those can be good little band saws.

Not sure about how far off the pulley your blade is, but you don't want the teeth running on the wheels. That will take the 'set' out of the teeth and ruin the blade.

There was an article in a HSM magazine about building the hydraulic downfeed. I'll search for it after work and get back to you.

The Home Shop Machinist magazine November/December 2018.

This was a multi issue article, so you'd want to look for at least the January/February 2019 issue also.

They can usually be found on EBay, but maybe the publisher also sells old issues.
