Hello! I have a touch probe. I don't know who made it and I have no documentation. There are no LEDS on the probe.
There are three wires coming out:
A black wire
A red wire
A stranded wire with no insulation

the red and black wires are connected to each other closed circuit 0 ohms UNTIL the probe touches something then it is an open circuit

Can I use this? If so, how to wire and how to get my TouchDrO to recognize it?

Thanks in advance Dave

Well, here is an update: I found this about half way down this page: TouchDRO TDA-400/420 Adapter Manual
I wired the black to 1 ground and the red to the 4 "p" signal. Now when the touch probe touches something a red led in the TDA 420 comes on. However on the tablet application there no perceivable change. I powered off and on etc. I tried changing Aux 1 from Digital Probe to Binary Switch (and back) but no love. I watched the video How to Find Edges or Centerline of a Part with a DRO the quick and easy way and I doesn't act like the probe is recognized at all. That video talks about another video on how to setup a touch probe but I can't find that setup video..
Thanks in advance for any advice. Dave

Dave, Did you enable the probe in the settings?

Hello - I can't find it in settings, I can't find it anywhere.. How do I enable it? I was expecting to see it on the screen below but I have my scales, angular settings and tachometer - no probe. The Device dialog shows my scales and the Aux 1 says Digital Probe and if I touch something with the probe the p changes from 0 to 1 and back to zero when released..

Oh my! I feel a little silly... It was way on the bottom of that screen, almost off it, and I missed it!

I turned it on and set the numbers etc and IT IS WORKING GREAT!! I feel bad. Thank you so much!!!

No worries. Gives me a reminder to add this to the user manual...
