How to Safely Move a P1-2?

I plan on building a wheeled base for my P1-2. I’ll have to lift it to set it on the base. I don’t know how to safely lift it without damaging it. In the manual it shows an eye nut. Do I replace it with the acorn nut and lift here?

I would suspect you replace the acorn nut with the eye for lifting. Do you have the part? If not McMaster probably can provide one.

I’d guess that’s a substantial sized stud if it’s for lifting a Gorton, they didn’t skimp on cast iron.

I just wish every old, top-heavy machine came with a nice, center-of-gravity lifting point like that!
