Hi Guys,
Now that i understand, and got spindle nose 5c adapter made by logan, i turned my attention to the other side where the change gears are, and when i removed the threaded 3 -4" collar, the gear was able to back out. Thats when i remembered where that nut must go. I hand tightened and used a small punch in one of the 4 holes and with a small brass hammer, tightened another 1/8".
I hope i did the right thing.
Spindle is turning.
Thanks for any and all advice
jon

Is this the nut on the spindle holding the gear on? If it is, that may be too tight. That nut should be only finger tight.

Yes, at back side oc headstock, when door is open, is up against the gear when i removed the sleeve for the collet closer.
I was told if too tight spindle will not turn.
I want to do the right thing for the lAthe.
Thanks
jon
