Serial number 31547 How old is it? Are there any manuals to download, especially for the spiral milling gearbox and the vertical head?

Very late 1966 according to the Serial Number Reference Book for Machine Tools.

Yes there is and you occasionally find them used on Amazon. I just looked though and there are currently none available.

The serial number file on the Hardinge mill Yahoo group places it in 1965. They also have a manual and some DWG files of the arbor, drive collar and other parts. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Hardinge-Mill/

The arbor and drive collar drawings were very complete and well drawn. I made a set of 3 arbors with them.
