How much weight can a small knee mill table support?

I have an import mill that's nearly identical to a Grizzly G3102. I want to use a Kurt D675 vise (w/o swivel base) on it because I found a good deal on one and would like a better vice than what I have. I usually keep a small rotary table - maybe 25 lbs - on one side of the table & the vise on the other. Would adding an 80 lbs vise be too much weight? I don't want to cause damage or premature wear, but can't find a spec for how much weight the table can support in the manual for mine or the online Grizzly manual.

I typically work on smaller parts, so I don't have 20+ lbs of stock on the table in addition to the workholding, but because the machine is pretty limited in Z axis travel, I'm moving the knee up/down all the time.

Hi...

Not familiar with your particular mill but in general (very general) terms, mill tables support about 20-30% of the mill's weight. Most medium sized bench-top mill tables are good for 200-300 pounds (roughly) because they usually weigh about 900 lbs. If you're worried about wearing the ways, two things are helpful. Keep them clean and lubricated and as much as possible utilize all areas of the travel. For example, when I startup a job, I might put the vise on the left side and the next job, I'll put the vise on the right side. At the very least, it causes even wear. ---And while you're oiling the ways, don't forget the leadscrews -every bit as important.

No, they will support a lot more than that. That's a hard question to answer correctly, a lot depends on how a workpiece is mounted, what tooling you'll be using, etc......
