Hi folks,
So I have a question for those of you who have purchased Electronica scales from DRO Pros: how has been your experience?
I'm getting at least one to two emails per week from people complaining that they can't get a hold of DRO Pros to buy individual scales. Just today a gentlemen along these lines:
"... I purchased the Ditron but can’t get a hold of DRO Pros I’ve called them 4 times left messages to order your recommended Electronica/EMS MagnaSlim. ...". A few weeks ago I called to buy a 1um Slim scale, was told by the sales woman that she has no clue how to sell a single scale, and that a tech will call me. Never heard back... Called today in the morning again, same story. When I called back before the end of the day, she told me that they have meetings Monday and Tuesday, and I should really call on Wednesday. (And she hoped that I was not in a hurry...).

I guess I'm wondering if this is "random", or are DRO Pros not too excited about selling individual scales (as opposed to the whole DRO kits). I've been recommending them on my website, and in the past had received very good service from them. It would be a bummer if they went downhill (a. I like their scales and b. it makes it easier for my customers to get decent magnetic scales). I'm secretly hoping that y'all had much better experience...

Regards
Yuriy

I purchased a complete 3 axis system a few years ago and the experience was great! I haven't had any interactions with them since and it would be a dismay to learn they have "gone down that path"..

I was able to purchase individual, magnetic scale components, from M-DRO. They are located in the UK but shipping was still reasonable and quick.

I know about M-DRO. I'm specifically trying to figure out if DROPros is still willing to sell scales individually.

I had the same experience when I tried to by a scale. They did not say "no" but they were very reluctant and said they did not recommend mixing and matching. They did not recommend scale adapters. I couldn't tell if they were really concerned it would not work well or they were just trying to upsell me to a whole system. I think the later. I ended up buying from m-DRO.

Could it be that DROPros considers you as serious competition and doesn't want to "aid and abet"?

Nothing lately with DROPros, but they have been extremely helpful and supportive in the past few years. I would imagine the direct Asian selling must be rough on their business.

DROPros probably wants to sell full systems, not piece parts, where they may have support issues. They don't know your product, and frankly, it's competition for theirs. Perhaps if you could have a discussion with them, it would be different, since you could work out any support issues. Just a thought.

Direct sales is probably the root issue, as it cuts into their business model.

I know a couple years ago DRO Pros didn't seem to offer magnetic scales individually, that's what lead me to M-DRO.
