How Do I Cut O1 Plate?

I have a piece of ground 01 plate that is 1/16 thick and need to know the best method to remove unwanted material. I need to machine the edges and also cut some slots. Any and all ideas appreciated.

Thanks for the information Mr. Jim now I got to see how I'm going to cut a slot .043 wide and .350 long.

With a 0.040 endmill?

I think you are going to be moving some clamps around, don't think you are to secure it with a screw in a 0.043 slot!

What is the finished shape on the outside?

Depending, you could strap it down to your mill, on a sacrificial board underneath, using straps, T nutz and bolts and using something like brass or steel to spread the pressure of the strap so it doesn't marr or divot in the steel. Use at least 4 so you can remove one in the work area and still have 3 holding it down.

Personally, I'd use a smaller drill bit to start the slots.
