I cut a lot of holes with hole saws. I keep running into my three jaw chuck sticking when using them, and it not being able to get the saws out. I actually broke my spanner wrench trying to get one loose.

What can I do differently? Or what type of chuck would work well with this? A keyed chuck instead of keyless?

Keyless chucks will tighten under load, while a keyed should not. If you are having overtightening issues then a keyed chuck or a larger keyless chuck should help.

I frequently use large hole saws in my Jacobs chuck with no issue. Might be worth grabbing a cheap one for driving your hole saws. Need not be a precision item for that job!
