Hello
I blew an approx 0.062 hole in a cylindrical piece of 16 gauge chrome moly tubing while using TIG.............
Would the use of a piece of temporary aluminum tubing (as a "back up" material) be suitable for doing the TIG patch/repair?
and
your thoughts on using 0.030 MIG wire as a filler rod please?

as always
thanks!

I can't answer this directly but you will have to state the use of your weldment before anyone can give decent advice. My dad gas welded the 4130 airframe of his Mustang II, would be a very different requirement from fixing farm equipment.
