Rest In Peace
I just looked at the 9X20 lathe on the HF site. They have it on sale for 809.00. It is currently on back order, but that is a 400 dollar savings. Darn I sure wish I had the 800 bucks. Have a look in case you are shopping and have some time to wait. HF is usually very good at filling back orders quickly. Enjoy!!

That's only $10 more than the 8x12 which is also on sale.
Additionally, the two cabinet stand for the 9x20 is on sale for $112 reduced from $200.

Great deal.

Our local hf store had a 9x20 lathe on their stand on display and the stand is really too short.
mine is on a hf woodworkers bench ($149.00)that I added 1-1/2" more plywood to the top it worked out nice with the 4 drawers and it's very stable

Yes the stand that comes with all 9X20s is too low. I had to block mine up 6 inches to work comfortably.

"Billy G"

Well if the Chinese are anything like the people in Nam there short so the stand is prolly just right for them. I'm not degrading them just a observation.

I have the 9x20. It's a decent lathe once you do the mods on it. See Steve Bedair's website for the basic ones.

The 8x12 for me is to small. Also the one I saw at the store needs a lot more work than my 9x20 did.

As far as the stand being to short, I'm in a wheelchair and the height works out great for me.

When I bought the lathe they also had a Gear head Mill-Drill. I don't see it on their site anymore. I asked about using a 20% off coupon. The manager said if I was buying both he could do better than that. Got them both delivered to the store for pick-up.

Here is a couple of pics.

It's now disappeared from the HF site, although the stand is still there at the sale price.
