Help? Remove elevating shaft- stuck

Posted this question on my rebuild thread by mistake, decided to post here again.

The elevating shaft is stuck. It turns and works as it should, but I can't get it out of the knee. I have removed the bearing retainer cap but I can't pull the shaft out. I have soaked it pretty well in penetrating oil but so far it's a no go.

Have I missed something? I'm open to suggestions.

I had to persuade mine a bit with a dead blow hammer from the inside. There are a couple bearings in there that are "pressed" into a machined area of the casting.
