I am getting down to where I am getting serious about getting started on my QCTP. I am thinking of trying something along the line of this gentleman. http://homepage3.nifty.com/amigos/qctp/qctp-e.htm If we go down to picture Number nine, you will see just what I am seeking advice on..

I will be making most of this on the Unimat DB200. I have a four jaw chuck, so to get the eccentric portion can I just move the jaws so the work is offset about an eighth of an inch.? Then I would put the material back in the three jaw chuck and drill the center hole for the bolt that comes up through to lock the holder in position..

Are there any You tube videos where some one shows the work and explains it as he goes along? Or do I just need a kick in the behind and get down there and do it..

Thanks for any help or suggestions..

That's how I would go about doing it and that's one of the great things about the 4-jaw chuck.

The 4 jaw is the way to go but you may want to double check the distance. Blowing up the pdf and doing some ratios I get about .070" from the edge of the cylinder to the eccentric. What ever you come up with remember to only offset the cylinder half of the distance. Do a practice peice of rod first to get the feel of the interrupted cutting.
Good luck, now go play.

when I made mine I used the 4 jaw and .030 offset allows easy tight clamping and stays in place.

Thanks fellows for the help.. I have to admit I got sidetracked again. I'm rebuilding a 4 1/2 inch Magnum Metal Band Saw, that I got from the scrap metal yard.. Yesterday, go the base (the very bottom tin ny stuff) all straightened out and re-painted. Today I cleaned and painted the main cast iron base. Tomorrow I try for the main saw housing, and some of the little parts and pieces.

This is what I found at the Scrap Metal yard when I was looking for some Metal for my QCTP. So now I get this running and I can put my hacksaw away..

Will keep you posted.
