I bought a Standard Modern 14" utilathe with no feedrod. I have determined all the dimensions needed to make one except for the keyway width/depth.
The rod is 0.750".

Anybody able to help? Thanks in advance.

Do have some way of verifying that keyway size? I'm going to assume that's it's a 3/16" key.

If so, I would cut the shaft to a width of .188/189 and a depth across the flat .095 to .100 deep. I highly suggest using an undersize endmill to rough in the slot before machining final width. The reason I picked those numbers is 3/16 equates to .1875 , .188/.189 will give some slide room. Half of 3/16" is 3/32 = .09375 you want slightly more depth to reduce the chance of hanging up.

Thanks for the help. It turned out to be a 3/4 inch shaft 53 1/4 inches long with a 3/16 keyway. Got it made for less than $60 - works like a charm.
