I’m rebuilding a 1944 H10. The cf lead screw is badly worn. It is a 7/16” X 10 LH acme screw. I can’t find a screw to match. I CAN find a 1/2” x 10 LH screw. If I bore the appropriate bushings and make a 1/2” x 10 bronze but, will the dial ratio remain constant? Please share your thoughts.
I did something similar on a Burke mill. The screw was ok but the nut was worn. I bought a new round nut from McMaster Carr, bored out the old nut and press fit the new round nut in with Loctite and a set screw.
