Half nut problem

My 10" atlas lathe has a problem. If I am facing. Something
the leaver engages and it starts to feed.
how do I fi. This? Any one know?

If you look at the parts list, There is one in the download section if you don't have one. There is a ball and spring that should set in a detent to hold the handle up.

In which direction is it feeding? Cross feed or lengthwise?

Then as kd4dij previously mentioned, it is most likely the detent either stuck or missing, or the scroll is damaged.
