I have an 18" Grob band saw with gravity weighted power feed that looks like most of the pieces are there, but from the end of the chain to what ever it connect to is missing!!
Does any one have knowledge of how this chain connects to "what ever' TO MAKE POWER FEED!
Any picture would be a tremendous help!

Thanks Tinkertoy 1941

Tinkertoy,
I'll be glad look at the one I have at work on Monday, I can't remember at all what the chain connects to. I can get pictures for you too.

Is that a 4V-18? If so, I have a PDF manual for it if you want it.

Just a thought, that perhaps its something like a massive drill press I have that my chain is attached
to a window weight or looks like a window weight. And then there is an adjustable idler that the chain
goes around to change the feed rate. sam

Thanks for the replies! I have the instruction booklet & sales flyer for the 4V-18 Grob both from "Grob Inc" but that they only show part breakdown & numbers.
The saw has foot pedal, linkage with cylinder, a stack of weights with a place to hook the chain, a chain pulley that swivels mounted to the rear of the saw table and the chain that is hooked to nothing.
The plate that fits in the slot is a 1 1/2" wide and goes passed the blade about 2" it has a 3/8 16 pitch stud 1 1/4 long on the front edge of the table.
The trunnion for the table has very little room for the chain to pass through to reach the front of the table.
I think pictures would solve my issues with the missing link!!
Thanks Tinkertoy

Tinkertoy,
I have added photos to an album for you regarding the feed chain.

Let me know if the link above for my Grob bandsaw album doesn't work (I'm new at this).

Do you have the feed bar that goes into the slot in place of the solid filler plate?
It has ratchet teeth along the full length of one side, evenly spaced holes down the center, and is about 23" long.
- If you follow the photo links, you can see whatever text I have included to further explain each photo.

Tinkertoy,
You will need at least four pieces that work at the table to constitute the upper part of the feed system:

(1) The spring-loaded ratchet return track mounted under the table and connected to the upper end of the chain,
(2) the ratchet feed bar that rides in the slot in front of the blade,
(3) the steering handle which engages anywhere along the feed bar,
(4) the boomerang-looking part handler which is stepped all along the inside for capturing parts at their corners and notched along the outsides for engaging to the steering handle,
and (5) maybe a short slot filler piece or two.

The above terms are my own; I don't know what the parts list calls each of them, but we can probably look them up if you need clarification.

Dave Thanks for all the pictures they clear up where all the pieces go!
The next thing is to find them the brochure that came with the saw is dated 1947.
I have contacted Grob for more information.
Do you have a source or have extra parts, do you use the feed on your saw.
Thanks

No I don't have any idea about getting parts, and I don't have any either. Don't really know what I'm in for if I ever needed any.
Yes I do use the gravity feed, but not often. It works well an it's a real nice feature to have when you need it.
Do you have all the feed parts for yours?

Let us know what you find out on getting parts.
Dave

Whenever I need to order new replacement parts for my saw, I go to bandsawparts.com. They have replacement parts for almost all brands of band saws. They give discounts and they ship fast!

Thanks for the heads up, I will give them a try & let you know the results!! Tinkertoy
