Some or many of you might know this trick already. I don't work with a lot of sheet metal so it's a new one for me. I knew there were other great reasons why I bought left & right hand shears.
Yes, this is a great trick! I have used it even on 3/16" plate for angled cuts on the 10' Pearson shear we had at work. Had to notch it with a zip cut and bend the tabs down with vise grips.
Brings to mind an old friend in the airplane business. He did both the airframe and skins, essentially one step beyond homebuilt planes. He referred to the 3 shear sets as Left, Right, and Useless.
