Globe mill attachment.

I don't know if your post is a question or a gloat? I have never used a Globe milling attachment. I have only read about them. I do know that if you have one, you have a very unique device that is scarser than hens teeth.

A nice attachment to be sure. But looks like it is very heavy. I'd think the place for an attachment like that one would be on board ship where space is at a minimum. At least keyways could be milled with it. Still a limited milling attachment, dependent upon the travel and rigidity of the cross slide of the lathe. At my age,I prefer a regular milling machine.

If I ever found a rig like that, it wouldn't end up on my lathe. I'd have to build a bench-top horizontal milling machine out of it. Now let's see. If I knocked out that wall...

I could build a nice box for it so I could occasionally OOGLE at it! And keep it on a LOW shelf so I wouldn't have to LIFT it for the oogling.

Nice attachment, necessity is still the mother of invention, looks like the beginning of the 3 in 1 machines :) :)

That Globe machine is not mine, but would like to have it, I just thought it would be nice to show it here so people can droll some.

I actually have a Globe Milling head I use on my Logan lathe. It works well for both milling and increasing the capacity of the lathe, sort of a gap bed feature without the gap. The attached photos are of the Globe Head on my lathe being used to bore a hole in a steel plate that was too long to swing. It is very rigid and quite useful from time to time, plus it came as an accessory with my lathe.

Very cool!! Might be the most useful of the Globe's applications for a small lathe. Especially if you already have a mill.

I know this thread was a long time ago, but this popped up and thought someone here might be interested? Though not complete, it’s still a good deal and could probably talked down in price.
