I got a problem. The gear below came from an old L-W dividing head. It's missing a tooth and some others have some wear.
1. I'd buy one commercially if i could find one. Although i don't know what you would call this. It Mates with a worm gear. The teeth are at an angle.
2. I could braze them up but i don't know if i have the equipment to cut the teeth.
3. Maybe it's scrap?
What are your thoughts???
As always, thank you in advance for all your advice!!!

I forgot to mention, it is about 2 1/8 diameter and about 1 1/4 thick.

If this was for worm gear power transmission, I would say braze and cut the teeth again. Though this is for a dividing head where the rotational position matters. So I would advise making a new one from bar stock, get the indexing right from the start.

Unless you can get one OEM, I'd consider it scrap, if accuracy of division is important.

What you pictured is called a "worm wheel". The mating gear is called a "worm".

What to do about the damage depends on man factors. What's your budget? Is an OEM replacement available? How important is indexing precision in your applications?
