I'll be needing a refill of argon soon. I called my LWS in Redding (42 miles away), 80 cu. ft. = $102. Called MJB Welding supply in Chico (85 miles away), 80 cu. ft.=$42!

Maybe I'll finally get a chance to meet @Janderso and see his shop.

Try pricing acetylene. MJB has been a good company to deal with. Harris Welding in Roseville wouldn’t honor their own bottle leases. 4 bottles with a 99 year lease they wouldn’t honor.

That's an easy call. Pick a day, dig through all your favorite classified's, find everything that's for sale along the road trip, pick up whatever you can along the way. There's no better opportunity than this to drop 1200 bucks in four hours and still convince yourself you saved sixty bucks.
