Fusion won't cut

I keep coming up with the same issue and do not understand why.

first create sketch, then select surface. Then insert a .dxf from draftsight x64, finish sketch. Looks great.

click surface, extrude. The extrude window pops up. When going to the bottom selection cut is not an option. I have been fighting this constantly - sometimes it works and do not know why.

FWIW, I do all the 2D drawing in Draftsight, then make simple .dxf(s) to insert. I have been using 2D autocad and then draftsight for 40 years.

Look closely. You are on the Surface tool menu. You need to be in Solid.
