Sheldon is a good solid lathe pretty much of the same caliber as a LeBlond. I used one almost identical to the one shown in high-school shop class but, it also had a feedrod. Since I was already familiar with LeBlond, I always tried to use those. The ones we had at school were darn near identical to the one my father had.

Anyhow, the price on this one is a little high (IMO). Oh, and these things are heavy... Around 2 tons. The thing to watch-out for with these machines is that many had 8 or 10 HP motors. It's a little hard to feed one of those in a "residential" shop. VFDs in that range get pricey and you'll certainly need a 30 or 40 Amp circuit. Might be better off swapping out the motor with a 5HP.
