Made some leveling feet for the lathe. Did these steps:

Chucked up and ran an indicator to get it running as true as I could
Faced one side
Did the relief for the bottom
Swiched ends truing up
Faced to 1.605 or as close as I could get it (figuring out the dials and the parallax error of the compound on 30 degrees)
Ran in reverse to cut off the backside to do the small taper
Plunged in for the relief for the leveling screw
Filed the taper to smooth out

Its a good idea to slip a piece of roofing felt (tarpaper) under each foot. Keeps things in place when there is vibration.

Why the accuracy?
That is what leveling screws are for.

accuracy not much required, with adjustability --- especially since concrete floors are not in the least accurate.

Geez, this guy wanted to get in some machining time and practice for when he really needs to do an accurate job. Well done, I say! Not all work will require precision, but if you have the time, go for it. Agree with John on the tarpaper or similar material, steel on concrete can wander a bit.
