I'm trying to become an expert hand drill sharpener and have been studying drills and point geometry.
I;ve also watched numerous videos on how it's done. Tom's Techniques is my fav, although a bit blurry
on close-ups. I like the way Tom uses the faceted technique with the web thinning notch.
A lot of hand sharpeners use the side to side grind with the roll to get the relief angle, like you see on
most common drills. Research has shown that using multiple facets and web thinning produces a better
drill. The Tormek wet grind machine with the drill attachment looks nice. Pricey $$$ but it can also be used to sharpen and grind other tools making it more versatile than a Darex.
Anyone here use the Tormek? Will it give you this?>
