Enco12x36 lathe oil leak

I bought this lathe new from Enco just before they went away. (2016)
It has leaked oil from from day one, I was too lazy to do anything about it. It was just a small leak until recently, I could see almost a continuous drip from the oil seal.
Decided I should do something about it. The hardest part was getting the seal out, drill and a few screws did the trick.
Still waiting on my parts to show up. Hopefully this will fix it.

Boy it's always something isn't it?

Curious why that would leak. Did you see any flaws in the seal or shaft? How is the runout on the shaft?

You would think that a low pressure, low RPM seal like that would last forever.
