Good Morning,

I may have a line on an ENCO 111-3310 from a local machine shop. I offered them $1500, they said the owner will get back to me soon. It looks well used but it’s the older green / teel paint so it should be Taiwanese from what I’ve researched. Comes with a 3 and 4 jaw Chuck and some tooling. I attached a couple pics (one is pretty bury), let me know what you think. Thanks!

Heck yes! I would think at $1500 for that tooled as it is, would be a no brainer, but that's just me:<)

Let's hope you get the nod. This lathe will be just fine at that price.

Congratulations!

So I went and looked at the machine. It’s at a machine shop with some amazing machines. Huge lathes with 15’ long beds and chucks bigger than me. Rows of massive mills. Cool place. So we ran the lathe through all of the gears and it looks and sounds good. He said they purchased it new and just don’t use it anymore because it’s too small for the work they do.
The kicker is he was even trying to sell me a massive mill to go along with it. These are the times I wish I had a big shop. Thanks for your help and I’m going to end up purchasing it. Just have to figure out transport.

Welcome to the group, this is a great place to learn and ask questions.

Congratulations, that's a good size hobby machine and it should serve you well.

Regarding moving these things I've only done it a few times but the most important thing to remember is you move them with your brain, not your muscles. Definitely rent a drop deck trailer, best $100 I spent when moving my former 13x40.

A Johnson bar and a bunch of 3/4" pipe will do an amazing amount of the work with a skilled hand. Don't be afraid to ask for help on here, I did and I got two guys who came down to help me.

Blocks of wood and 2" tie down ratchet straps, lots of them.

Plenty of other good advice on here, just ask....

I did have a question about the machines standard motor. I forgot to take a picture of it but the manual doesn't say anything other than it's a1.5 hp 3 phase. Is this a 220V or 240V motor? Trying to figure out what kind of phase converter I need. Thanks
