I just finished my new workshop (30x40 metal building) and unfortunately it coincided with the accidental destruction of my mini lathe (Grizzly 7x14).

I've found this used Enco 111-3310 with accessories (not specified as to what they are) and "low hours" for sale online for 3,000. It's the darker blue color version and doesn't look bad from the pictures.

If I'm going to get a new lathe, I figure I'd upgrade to a bigger (more permanent one). What are y'all's thoughts on this model?

Encos have a good reputation, especially if Taiwan made- what size is it?
Also, how did you destroy your mini lathe? Drive over it with a Bobcat?

Yes, if it's in good condition. That's a good sized hobby machine and you probably won't need to upgrade if you go with it.

You're looking at ~$7500 plus shipping to go with a Precision Matthews equivalent not to mention a possible wait. I'd say $3k is a reasonable price if it's a good machine, especially if it comes with some tooling.

Post up some pictures if you can.

13" x 40" ? It's a nice lathe , capable of most hobby shops .

I have a Enco knee mill in pristine condition. For me it is worth considerably more than a well used Bridgeport which I would have paid a considerable premium for.

If the lathe is in good condition I would go for it if it were me! If the Enco is "well used" I would hold out for something in better shape.
