I just picked up this Elson 8mm watchmakers lathe. Baseplate is unmarked. Idler pulley assembly is unmarked. I need to clean it up. I have cleaned the motor and repaired the wiring.

I just saw your post - that looks like a VERY nice little lathe! That takes me back - I had an Elson watchmaker's lathe for a few years in my collection. It seemed to be a well-built quality lathe. Where did you find that gem?
PS...you mentioned the baseplate is unmarked. It looks just like the Borel mounting plates I've seen, including the one I used to have. But they all had the name "Borel" stamped on the underside. I wonder if somebody made copies and left them unstamped...??

All of the Borel base plates have 8 slotted holes. The plate under my Elson lathe has 2 long slots and metal cross bars that the motor attaches to. I have not pulled the motor off of the plate yet. It was a local purchase in Great Falls Mt.
