DTI on Sherline cross slide?

Watching a recent Clickspring youtube video got me all inspired. Is there an elegant way to attach a DTI to the cross slide? You can attach a piece of steel and use a magnetic base but that leaves you way high over the spindle axis and a bunch of monkey bars to reach down. Must be a better way.

I use the 3/8-inch round hole of the Sherline 3/8-inch insert holder tool post. My DTI came with an adapter for mounting in 3/8-inch diameter holes.

Sherline also sells tool posts with 1/8-inch and 1/4-inch diameter holes.

Here is a photo showing a dial indicator mounted in the Sherline insert holder tool post (#7600) for horizontal measurementl, and dial-test indicator mounted in Sherline riser rocker tool post (#1288) for vertical measurement. The dial indicator has a stem extension.
